Hillsong’s middle class, middle-of-the-road and (I suspect) hugely middle-aged.
Oh yeah, and they don’t really care if their theology is drawn from the Bible, Oprah Winfrey or a Hallmark Greeting Card. And let’s not get into the way it asks guys to sing about Jesus as if He’s their boyfriend.
But then again hundreds of thousands of people like it, so it can’t be bad … right?
Sorry, got a little moody there. Maybe I better sing a little Darlene and Reuben to mellow out…

I agree that the romantic angle in worship has been waaay overdone.
What we need is more masculine worship music. Such as the following:
“Crushed, crushed, crushed
The wicked shall be crushed
My God shall turn them into mush
The wicked shall be crushed
Smashed, smashed, smashed
The wicked shall be smashed”
