When travelling overseas, you encounter many strange foods. Most of these are exotic cooked dishes, but often you find strange fruits as well. Thus Thailand has the mangosteen and Malaysia has the durien.
Mozambique has the Chibwete, which sounds like a mythical beast rather than a fruit. Check out this picture of it:

Looks more like an explosive device than a fruit, doesn’t it?

Mangosteen indeed. I was in Thailand doing English teaching, and we played some game which involved naming our favourite fruits. So it was “mango, pineapple, mangosteen …” and that, friends, is how I found out about mangosteen!
Can’t remember what it tastes like anymore! It’s been too long.
