Erin from Out Of Character recently received one of these spiffy gifts for her birthday - a toothbrush that plays Jamiroquai’s “Canned Heat”, from the dancing scene in Napoleon Dynamite. Here’s a description of it - and keep in mind that this is the official product description from Hasbro’s website:
Sound vibrations stream from the bristles through your teeth – so you can actually hear music inside your head!
The company clearly thinks this is a Good Thing. I’m not so sure.

Bad vibrations, possibly. All I want to know is can I get one that plays Nirvana? Kurt Cobain’s screaming going through my teeth sounds like an experience not to be missed.
The Beginning, you have to balance that against any damage done to your 10-year-old’s mental health from hearing “Canned Heat” over and over and over again. Let us know how it goes.

What an awesome product! I would have liked to have been in the room when that idea was pitched.
Singing toothbrushes—check. Now we can let our crack scientists and engineers move on to manned travel to Mars.

Anything that can make kids brush longer is a great thing.

Next brilliant product idea: Singing dentures! What better way to brighten up the nursing homes than Elvis-singing teeth.

I must get one… It will totally change my life… Or at least entertain me for like five minutes.

Not only will you be entertained, you might get cleaner teeth as well! Bonus!

To be honest I really think it’s a bad idea. Just another useless item.. They don’t want to trick kids into washing their teeth, they want to trick them into buying their product.

True enough, but this a fairly inexpensive novelty item, so I’m not really worried.
