Those pictured are my brothers, during their recent trip to China, Mongolia and Hong Kong. One of them has created a website about their experiences. It’s very interesting and has some great photos as well.
UPDATE: The scorpion tasted just like pork crackling, apparently. They couldn’t make out what the snake tasted like as it was smothered in fish sauce.

Oh yum, I want to try that too! So far, when it comes to insects I’ve only had the chance to eat chocolate covered crickets, meal worms (cajun fried and live), and chocolate covered grasshoppers. They were all yummy though!
As for animal parts, meh, I guess it’s a cultural thing. I’ve never had snake, but I’ve eaten tripas (goat intestines), cow tongue, pigs feet, pigs blood, panza, and about a hundred other things I can’t think of right now. lol

Joana, looks like you are much more experienced with exotic foods than me. Although isn’t it cheating smothering things in chocolate?
I don’t think I’ve ever eaten insects. I’ll have to add it to my to-do list.
I’ve been assured that the scorpions tasted good, and the snake wasn’t bad either.

I suppose you could consider it cheating, except that if you want to try eating insects in an area where health nuts and Asian cultures do not have much influence that’s about your best bet. lol To me the foods I mentioned aren’t exotic, and indeed a lot of people here would agree with me. Menudo has panza (pig fat) and pigs feet generally. Tripas make good tacos, cow tongue is delicious and tender ect. But people not familiar with Mexican culture find those dishes scary and make faces. *shrugs*
I’ve just never been one to turn my nose up at new eating experiences. Although if the experiance was particularly bad you can rest assured I won’t repeat it. lol

Every culture has weird foods of its own, I guess. Australia has Vegemite, Malaysia has the durian. Feeding Vegemite to tourists is great fun, particularly spread thick on toast …

Cool. One of the best part of traveling to other countries is to taste their food. Bragging rights for eating scorpions and snake are priceless.

Wow I just couldn’t eat it! I’ve always wanted to go on fear factor except I know I couldn’t do the eating part. I definitely couldn’t eat a scorpion, it just wouldn’t go down.

That just looks to sick to even touch never mind putting it any where near my mouth. I don’t know how anyone could eat that. I think i would have to be paid thousands to be made to eat that……LOL
